Reptile is from Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral (1994).
90s-era Trent Reznor was such a trailblazer. The creative energy and the precision of the production on this track are something you only get when someone is at their fucking prime: completely dialed in, operating on some hidden wavelength that almost possesses them. The holy spirit, completely unencumbered by any earlier path dependencies.
Today, elements of this track might sound a bit conventional (even though, again, I think the execution is unmatched). But at the time, these were completely new creative patterns.
